Why Is It Important To Remember What Makes Us Successful?

Would you like to analyze each of the aspects of your personality to enhance them and know how to be successful? In this article we provide some tools. Check out!

What would happen if we just remember what we’ve achieved? What would happen if we forgot the trajectory? It would be very difficult to repeat the strategies that made us successful; we would forget that it is the continuity that one day made us go far and, above all, we would lose the power of knowing that it is us, with our effort, who have achieved it. Therefore, it is essential to remember what makes us successful.

How did I get here? Certainly, it is easy to identify what we should improve or work more on our personality, that is, what we don’t like or what causes us more problems. But what if I ask you: what is the characteristic that makes you stronger, special, and yourself ? Try answering this question and see if it takes more effort than identifying the “worst” thing about you.

It is important to remember what makes us successful because with this we can see what characteristics define us when we face new challenges. That way, we can break down the path, see where we’ve failed and help ourselves to work on it the next few times. We can also go back to asking for help from those who reached out to us in a difficult time and knowing how to trust ourselves. If I got it once, why not twice?

SWOT Analysis: A Valuable Tool To Succeed

SWOT is a tool that allows you to analyze reality in an objective plan. It considers internal and external aspects and assesses the strengths and weaknesses in each of them. At first, this strategy was created for companies and entrepreneurs in order to efficiently analyze the market and their jobs. But why not analyze our personality and abilities in the same way?

The name of this technique is defined by its four components: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The strengths and weaknesses are constituted by the internal aspects of each one, and the other two, by the external field. Let’s take a closer look at each of these points.

Internal Aspects

  • Strengths : This section requires an introspection to analyze and be aware of our strengths; maybe I’m special, that I have what makes me different from the rest. For example: creativity when it comes to finding solutions. This will allow us to find new ways to put into practice what will least test our will.
  • Weaknesses : refer to the internal aspects of the person that need more work, which we consider sources of stress or problems, things that each one wants to improve. Ultimately, these would be the barriers that we have to overcome and resolve. Examples of weaknesses related to the person’s characteristics, that is, internal, could be: lack of will, low tolerance for frustration, inability to speak in public, etc.

external aspects

  • Opportunities : at this point, the external aspects that we can use to enhance strengths or work on weaknesses are analyzed. In other words, those resources that can be used to improve personal construction. Examples: enrolling in a public speaking skills course, purchasing a DVD with exercises to do at home, maintaining a balanced diet, etc.
  • Threats : in this section we refer to external aspects that affect our personality, our context or our development, and that constitute a danger. It is necessary to evaluate them and take them into account when it comes to acquiring resources (opportunities) that allow us to face them. For example, if we need to speak in public and we know we are having difficulty, we can prepare the presentation better.
SWOT Analysis

A good analysis helps us to succeed

SWOT analysis proves to be effective in its practical application. It can be applied, as we have seen, to an entire company. Furthermore, it is no less powerful and effective when we apply it personally to bring order to our routine. It is a tool that we can apply partially or in depth at different levels in each of its sections. In other words, it gives us great autonomy to be creative and adapt it to our needs.

This methodology makes us powerful in characterizing our traits, whether they are strong or weak, whether we like them or not. Knowing who we are, who we would like to be and the resources we have, we can face a fascinating task to design this path that takes us to the point we want, the way we want.
