Its Strength Lies In Its Vulnerability

Its Strength Lies In Its Vulnerability

“I’m vulnerable,” I admit. But… who isn’t? Certain things hurt everyone. There are aspects in our daily lives that affect us and that sometimes make us a little more fragile. Nobody is born with impenetrable armor.  An armor that prevents us from spending a lot of time crying when they hit us heavily. That allows us not to fear loneliness when we see emptiness in our hands.

The holes in the corners of an already uninhabited house, where a lot of laughter used to dance. The tranquility. Our fears are ours and no one can do anything to make them disappear, to hide them in old pockets lying around.

We all remember a failure that perhaps changed our lives. The path we couldn’t cross because we were deprived of it, or because we weren’t brave enough. There are many who hide the scars of a difficult childhood. Or the betrayals of a family that wasn’t there when it was needed.  Who has never been vulnerable in their life?

All of us. But as the saying goes,  strength is also in vulnerability. A force that can give us breath and desire to get up. To collect our ashes and write with them the book of our life, inhabited by new learnings. Learnings that we resolve first with tears.

my vulnerability, my strength

We live in a society where only the strongest are the fittest. Reason is valued above feeling, people capable of hiding their emotions in order to achieve their goals are taken as a reference. Sometimes we even bring up our children with the idea that it is always better for them to hide their tears. Let them be silent and answer, instead of expressing what is going on inside them.

Many children will grow up looking for private corners where they can hide. People who will reach maturity by mastering many of their feelings, trying to appear false strength, false firmness. Look, assume and be silent, disguising that nothing harms them. That you can’t win.

But none of this is real. People who have been brought up to hide their emotions have a serious shortage that will, in the long run, bring them many problems. They are incapable of managing this entire complex inner world: fear, anger, anger, uncertainty… How can we do it if we have always been told that we must appear that nothing affects us?

The consequences of not knowing how to “assume” our vulnerability can cause several problems:

1. When the factor fear, fear or insecurity arises, the person will have only two options: being paralyzed without being able to react or running away from a certain situation.

2. Not assuming that we are all fragile inside makes us build a false armor that, sooner or later, will eventually be torn down.

3. It is necessary to assume our own vulnerability. I know that there are things that harm me, and as such I assume them, understand them, and then try to overcome them.

Vulnerability and resilience

Everyone, absolutely everyone, has this wonderful ability to overcome adversity. To difficulty, darkness and fear. Resilience is a seed that we all harbor in the depths of our being; you just need to know how to cultivate it.

For this, it is necessary that we are aware of these aspects:

1. You are not as strong as you think you are. You cannot carry as many difficulties upon yourself as you believe you can. You are neither a superwoman nor a superman. We all have our limits, and if you are not aware of this, there will come a day when you will fall. Protect yourself, set limits and be aware of how far you can go. Feel your vulnerability and protect it.

2. It is possible that you yourself are already very aware of your vulnerability. But beware,  being vulnerable is not a permanent state. It’s knowing how to recognize that we can be hurt, that there are things that hurt us. First, it is necessary to recognize them and then establish means and strategies to move forward. To maintain integrity and overcome.

3. Life sometimes shows its cruelest side and takes us down the hardest path. Life, as you already know, often leads to serious side effects. But if you build your resilience, you can protect your integrity and come out stronger. This is not a simple phrase taken from a self-help manual; it is a reality. A breath of hope that you can find within yourself, which you must hold on tight to get out of this situation. You are braver than you think because, while it may seem surprising, your vulnerability is also your strength.
