Emotional Stagnation: Does Nothing Change In Your Life?

Emotional Stagnation: Does Nothing Change In Your Life?

Emotional stagnation is not a state that comes because it comes. We are the ones who are in charge of opening the doors for you and, without any obstacles, we give you permission to stay. There are circumstances, times and existences that help to feed it. And none of us are exempt from going through it.

The problem is that we often refuse to admit it and remain in such stagnation without measuring the consequences. People turn away from us, opportunities slip away like sand between our fingers, joy evaporates and we become dark beings. The horizon disappears, and the meaning of life is gone.

Motivation disappears. What we once liked now seems ridiculous and meaningless. We prefer to be alone. We closed our hearts and decided to isolate ourselves so as not to be disturbed or disturbed. And without meaning to, we ended up buried alive. Next, we’ll look at some steps of emotional stagnation and how to avoid falling into it.

Routine, the number one ally of emotional stagnation

In a state of routine, the days differ very little. We take the same steps, we say the same words, we speak to the same people. We are so used to it that, without even realizing it, we are a constant repetition. Worst of all, we don’t want to get out of emotional stagnation even though we feel terrible.

If we live with someone, things are no different. There comes a time when the other, even though he’s been with us for years, turns into a stranger. We no longer even notice, or don’t care, if there is any change in your personality. We do not share life in depth, with all the meaning that that implies. It’s just another habit.

Routine is capable of putting an end to the will to live. Nor is it about throwing everything that was built into the air. But it is necessary to give opportunity to surprises, discover this new world that is possible to find in the block every day. Varying your path to work (or any activity) is a good start.

The rest will come with it. If you start being surprised again by the little things, you’ll find that you don’t need an excuse to smile again. Just being willing to change and ending the routine will bring new opportunities and help you to grow.

Stuck in the comfort zone

One of the most harmful things is not wanting to leave the comfort zone, that apparent ideal state that meets our needs. However, it is nothing more than a big mistake, an illusion that keeps us from moving forward. For example, we don’t feel identified with the work we do, but we stay in it for fear of becoming unemployed.

There are possibilities to start again, opportunities in other cities or countries. Despite the prospect, we discarded it and preferred to stay in our usual place. In other words, it means taking no chances, even if it means remaining in emotional stagnation, and all to preserve a mirror-like security.

Far beyond having clear goals, it is essential to recognize that personal growth involves moving from one side to the other. Be, moreover, willing to change and understand that new experiences are enriching. Little by little, we will find that balance that will allow us to take on challenges, no matter how complex they are.

In this way, we will be able to withstand the anguish that difficult times bring. If we don’t depend on our comfort zone, we will have the ability to get up from the tumbles. Thus, we abandon this tranquility that, even without being felt, nullifies and diminishes us.

Apathy, lack of motivation, sadness

We lose enthusiasm, nothing else motivates us and we even let others decide for us. Joy is not an option. Now we remain absent and with a shadow of sadness in our eyes. We eat, breathe, sleep, move more as a reflex act than on our own initiative. We don’t see the colors that design the world.

Our emotions are at the lowest level of sensitivity. Nothing and no one moves us and we see life go by as if it were a train that we didn’t reach in time, that has gone and left us at the station. And if opportunities arise, we won’t be able to take advantage of them. Then again the train leaves; there is nothing left to do.

Life starts to go by faster and faster, even though we know that only we are able to get out of this emotional stagnation. Recovering the ability to be surprised is key, as is dreaming again. It would be great to look for and bring to the present this child that we all have within us. It’s time to let her out.

Fantasy has no reason to rebuke reality. People who don’t abandon their dreams are capable of doing unthinkable things. It all starts by opening the doors of imagination and believing that anything is possible. Play, amidst the rigidity of a monotonous life, is a tool to be recovered.
